Functional Appliances in Centerville, Miamisburg, and Huber Heights

Mouthguards help protect your smile on the field or court. We use our iTero™ intraoral scanner to map your smile and bite and create the perfect fit. These are much more comfortable than store-bought versions and will not get in the way of your breathing.

It’s normal for a child's jaw to be a bit narrow, but it can cause some developmental issues. This custom device sits on the roof of the mouth to gently widen the upper jaw. This will create plenty of room for their adult teeth to grow in healthy and strong.

TADs are tiny, temporary anchors that give us a fixed point to move your teeth with greater precision. They are small, discreet, and much easier to manage than traditional headgear. They’ll help keep your smile exactly where it needs to be.

I have never been treated so well by a doctor’s office. This place is exceptional. From the first phone call to a serious request I made after starting the process, i was treated with kid gloves, love, kindness, cheerfulness, hopefulness, and respect. I was overwhelmed by the knowledge and expertise of everyone. There are two people that deserve exceptional recognition to this point: Ashley Aric and Dr. Remley. To say i was terrified after a horrific experience at another Orthodontist office is an understatement. I was terrified to go to this appointment because of a bad experience I had in Virginia. They spent so much time answering my very many questions and thoroughly calmed my nerves with their responses. Ashley even answered emails after hours (which she should not be doing!) which helped as I had a serious concern. She addressed it, did everything she could with Dr. Remley to make sure my experience was positive and I receive the best outcome with my treatment plan. I am from out of state. I picked this place off of a Google map search. I feel lucky. Like my luck has changed. If my experience changes, or continues to be exceptional over the course of the next year and a half, I will update my review. Check out Dr. Remley’s bio. She is an expert in her field and worked hard to distinguish herself from her peers and colleagues.

How long do I need to wear my appliance each day?

Every smile is unique, so your wear schedule depends on your specific tool. For example, options like headgear or tongue thrusting appliances are typically worn only during certain hours or at night. Others stay in place full-time. We will walk you through exactly what to expect so you can easily fit it into your daily routine.

Will The Orthodontic Appliance Affect How I Speak?

It is completely normal for your mouth to feel a bit full at first, and some tools like the Herbst appliance might make speech feel slightly awkward. We recommend practicing by reading aloud to help your tongue adjust. Your regular speech will return before you know it, and any extra saliva will go away quickly too.

When should my child have their first orthodontic visit?

We recommend bringing your child in around age 7. At this stage, their jaw is still growing, making it the perfect time to gently guide their development if needed. We can use tools like the Invisalign® Palatal Expander System early on to create the right amount of space for their permanent teeth to come in smoothly.

Thumb-sucking is a natural reflex, but it can cause alignment issues later on. A fixed palatal crib sits comfortably behind the upper teeth and is barely visible. It is a gentle way to prevent thumb-sucking and ensure your child's smile grows healthy and strong.

Tongue Thrusting Appliances

Sometimes the way we swallow or speak puts pressure on our front teeth. We can help fix this with a small appliance that is usually only worn at night. It safely trains the tongue to rest in the right spot so your teeth stay aligned.

Headgear Options

We occasionally use headgear to guide the upper teeth and jaw into a more comfortable position. You will only need to wear it during certain hours of the day. Just remember to take it off when eating, brushing, or playing sports.

Growth Guidance Program

We recommend parents schedule their child's first visit around age 7. While not everyone needs immediate care, our free Growth Guidance program is a wonderful way to check in on your child’s development and give them a head start on a lifetime of healthy smiles.
